Take a guided nocturnal tour in a tranquil sanctuary that has become home for some of Western Australia’s native animals facing extinction.  Experience an unforgettable journey through Barna Mia in picturesque Dryandra Woodland, 180 kilometres south-east of Perth.

Barna Mia is a wildlife experience with a difference. Nestled in the heart of Dryandra Woodland, south-east of Perth, Barna Mia is a place to discover threatened native marsupials in a natural setting, and experience the wonders of the woodland, once the sun has set and the action begins.

A tour guide takes visitors on a delightful journey through the sanctuary. Using specially placed lights, you can see native animals such as dalgyte, woylie, wurrup, quenda and boodie.

The tour allows you to experience the wonders of the woodland and discover the range of rare native animals that venture out after dark.

Cost (with Friends of Nature Play WA discount) is:

  • $25 family (2 adults and 2 children under 16 years); or
  • $10 per adult
  • $7.75 per concession, and
  • $5 per child aged 6 to 16 years.

This offer is available on Friday and Saturday night tours and subject to availability.  To book, call the Parks and Wildlife Narrogin office on 9881 9200.

The Dryandra Woodland area offers the campgrounds Congelin Campground and Gnaala Mia.

The Congelin campground offers eight caravan bays and a group camping area.  Facilities available are toilets, gas BBQs and open ring fire pits (fire wood provided during the winter period).

The Gnaala Mia campground was developed in June 2016 as part of the Parks for People caravan and camping initiative.  Out of the 35 sites of offer, eight are suitable for tents and swags, and the remaining 27 sites are a hard surface space suitable for campervans, camper trailers and caravans.  Each site features a fire pit with barbecue plate and billy hook, picnic table and benches.

Both campgrounds provide a great place to see marsupials.
