Season’s greetings from Nature Play WA

Merry Christmas and happy new year to you all from Nature Play WA!

Girl making Christmas tree on beach. It has been a big year for us, and a lot has happened since Richard Louv spoke at the Perth Concert Hall and the Nature Play WA movement was launched in April.

We’ve added new resources to our website including an Activity Finder, the Family Nature Clubs Toolkit, our blogging basics page and the Nature Play Australia Connect ning network.

You’ll find links to all of them in our latest newsletter, along with links to some interesting research in the nature play area and a few nature based ideas for the holidays.

Also this year, thanks in part to our efforts, the importance of unstructured play outdoors has been a regular theme in the WA media with stories showing up in The West, The Sunday Times and on ABC and commercial radio.

And we havedone a lot of work behind the scenes forming the partnerships necessary to make our effort a success. We have brought together our Founding Partners (a group of 17 NGOs, Government Departments and businesses), formed a very strong board and applied to become an incorporated not-for-profit association.

With all that work in place 2011 is set to be an even bigger year for us and we encourage you all to join us in our efforts to promote unstructured play outdoors for Western Australian kids. So keep an eye out for more Nature Play WA newsletters and events to come.

All the very best,

Griffin Longley
CEO, Nature Play WA
