Nature Play WA teamed up with Curtin University to launch the Curtin Nature Trail with a beautiful afternoon of free outdoor activities at the Bentley campus.
We had a blast at our last event of the year: the Curtin Nature Play Day, held in celebration of the Curtin Nature Trail on the Nature Play WA app. Officially launched at the event on Saturday, December 9, the trail leads you on an exploration of ten great outdoor spaces at the Curtin University Bentley Campus, with fun nature play based activities at each stop.
Local families from the area - and beyond - gathered in the lush pine grove at the centre of campus for the launch event.
With an amazing 1,996 registered attendees, there was a constant buzz of activity throughout the day.
The muggy, early-December heat was broken by small showers, which did nothing to dampen the spirits of attendees as they played in mud and partook in lots of crafty nature activities.
Families played with giant games, made nature arm-bands adorned with flowers, got messy at the mud kitchens, created kites and tested them in the wind, and decorated rocks to hide.
We were lucky to have Curtin University’s Parks and Gardens team running native plant seedling workshops at Atkinson Forum, where they helped little gardeners plant seedlings to take home. The Eco Faeries added some extra magic to the day too!
That wraps up our events for this year, but we’ll be back in 2018 with Nature Play WA events you know and love… and a few surprises up our sleeves!
In the meantime, please visit the Curtin University campus in Bentley with your family to walk, bike, scoot or skate the Curtin University Nature Trail! Download the ‘Nature Play WA’ app from the App Store (Apple devices) or Google Play (Android devices) to get started!
