Our first event, Nature’s Wonderland, opened with a Welcome to Country by Derek Nannup that officially launched our fun at Yanchep National Park!

Nature’s Wonderland was a unique opportunity for families to explore Cabaret Cave, with a special entry open for wheelchair users.

Families explored the cave formations while enjoying a number of activities including Aboriginal face painting, fairy crown making, Boomerang and tapping stick making and an opportunity to hear Derek Nannup play the Didgeridoo.

The incredible Parks and Wildlife staff at Yanchep National Park delivered two (2) interactive presentations to Every Kid in a Park participants at Wangi Mia.

The Aboriginal Cultural Experience tours were delivered by Derek Nannup who shared his Aboriginal culture with families. Those who were at the event would agree that Derek’s entertaining personality (and fantastic jokes) provided an enriching and memorable experience.

Families were excited to join Parks and Wildlife volunteer Tania in the Wetlands to Woodlands presentations. Tania shared her passion and knowledge about animals in Yanchep National Park – including frogs, snakes, honey possums and much more!

Tania was a wonderful host and provided families with the opportunity to join in, ask questions, and get up close with preserved animals from the park including snakes, a turtle shell and some creepy crawlies.
