Dyoondalup Point Walter Reserve, Bicton

Nestled on the Debarl Yerrigan (Swan River) in Bicton is Dyoondalup (Point Walter Reserve), meaning “place of long flowing white hair” or “place of white sand” in Whadjuk Noongar language. It was named for the vast sandbar the Dreamtime figure Djunda is said to have left behind, and was traditionally a gathering place for women and children. With two small playgrounds, a sprawling foreshore, bushland, sandbar shallows, and Jenalup (Blackwall Reach) cliffs and caves close by, it’s a place where families can spend the day wandering, wading and exploring at their own pace.
