Professional Learning Workshops

Nature Play WA is excited to be offering a range of education based, pedagogical professional learning opportunities.

As WA's leading advocacy organisation for outdoor, active play and learning with children, Nature Play WA delivers innovative and engaging professional development for educators.
Aligning with the Department of Education's Focus 2019 Initiative, our educator workshops emphasise the role of play-based learning in a balanced curriculum, and offer a wealth of tools, resources and support for teachers to implement play-based learning in their schools and early learning centres.

"Play provides the most natural and meaningful means by which children can construct knowledge and understandings, practise skills, immerse themselves naturally in a broad range of literacy and numeracy and engage in productive and intrinsically motivated learning environments."  - Kathy Walker (2007) Play Matters.

You don't need a specially designed nature playspace or a national park on your doorstep to take learning and play outdoors. Nature Play WA's workshops are designed specifically for WA educators, by WA educators, to be delivered in any outdoor space!

Designing an Outdoor Learning Space

For Early Childhood Educators

This workshop is designed to inspire and kick start creativity in establishing a play-based outdoor classroom. Using information from Professor David Sobel on children’s play motifs, educators will play themselves to create models of outdoor learning spaces that support the Early Years Framework. The workshop also explores some of the barriers to learning outside and how risk, organisation and supervision can be reframed to create success in a school or early learning centre environment.
