5 Things to Do at Mundy Regional Park
If you’re considering a visit to Mundy Regional Park we can help you plan a fun family day with this list of five fun things to do at Mundy Regional Park.
Located on the western edge of the Darling Scarp in the Perth Hills, Mundy Regional Park is just a 30 minute drive from the city. There’s plenty to explore here – with some trails winding through spectacular areas of native bush, featuring grass trees and wildflowers, and others offering incredible panoramic views of the city skyline and the Swan Coastal Plain.

To experience Mundy Regional Park in all its natural beauty, we recommend visiting in late winter and spring. Water should still be flowing throughout the park, and wildflowers, including orchids and hakeas, will be in full bloom.
5 Things to Do at Mundy Regional Park
Below you’ll find our list of five favourite things to do at Mundy Regional Park, and at the bottom of this article we’ve included the list as a handy printable version for you too.
1. Enjoy a Family Picnic
The Lesmurdie Falls Picnic Area is situated close to the car park and accessible toilets. The area has three sheltered picnic tables, surrounded by scenic native bush.
The Lower Lesmurdie Falls Picnic Area has both shaded and unshaded picnic tables available, as well as bench seating. You can relax and unwind with your lunch here beside the babbling brook.
Wide, concrete paths between the spaces and the car park mean that pram and wheelchair users can access both of these spaces.
2. Bird Spotting
There are lots of feathered friends to spot at Mundy Regional Park, in fact, over 200 species of birds that have been recorded in the park. But keep an eye out, as they can move quickly! Pick a comfortable spot with a good view and try to remain quiet (bring some binoculars if you can). See if you can spot birds like kookaburras, red-tailed black cockatoos and Australian ringnecks.
3. Wildflower Hunting
Visit Mundy Regional Park during late winter and spring, and youโll be treated to a spectacular display of wildflowers!
Prickly moses (a species of wattle), blue fairy orchids, and myrtle hakeas are just some of the wildflowers you might see. Why not challenge yourself to see how many different coloured flowers you can find?
4. Visit Lesmurdie Falls
The spectacular Lesmurdie Falls runs 40 metres down a face of granite rock into a valley surrounded by bushland. Visitors can view the falls from many impressive angles, including the base and the top of the falls, and also via the lookouts that sit alongside the top.
We recommend the Falls Trail, a 640m return trail starting at the Lesmurdie Falls Picnic Area, which will take you to the top of the falls and the lookouts along the way.
Lesmurdie Falls is perhaps the most well known attraction at Mundy Regional Park. The waterfall rushes 40 metres down a face of granite rock into a valley surrounded by bushland, and then flows into a peaceful stream.

5. Explore Whistlepipe Gully
The Whistlepipe Gully trail is situated in the northern section of the park and begins at the Lewis Road car park. Itโs a class three (3) 3.5km loop, with some short, steep hill sections and lots of steps.
In the months of winter and spring, this trail features blossoms of wildflowers and follows a creek which flows over small waterfalls. Thereโs also a section of the trail that boasts a larger waterfall and stunning views of Perth city.
