Join Nature Play WA at Matilda Bay Reserve on 21 February 2018 (from 9:00am - 12:00pm) for an event just for the littlies! This event has been specifically designed for our Mini Nature Players (6 months to 5 years) and will showcase some great nature play activities for younger children including sensory risk taking, craft and messy play.
This is a self-guided event where parents and caregivers are responsible for their own child or children in their care at all times.
When: Wednesday, 21 February 2018
Where: Matilda Bay Reserve
Time: 9:00am – 12:00pm
Pricing: Adults: FREE, Children: $5.00 per participating child (recommended age 6 months to 5 years)
Play with our mud-tastic mud kitchens. Why not make some mud pies or mud scones? Yum!
Create your very own nature arm band using the resources provided, or through foraging for natural materials that have fallen on the ground (e.g. feathers, leaves, flowers or bark).
Join Nature Play WA as we paint rocks to hide around Manning Park, or take home to hide later. We will provide all resources required including rocks and paint – all you need to bring is your imagination.
Using the resources provided, make your very own bubble wand out of pipe cleaners.
Books and a very special reading area will be set up for the duration of the event to provide you with a nice area for reading. Group readings will be held every half an hour for the duration of the event.
Play in the Sensory Adventure area and experience the touch, smell and sight of materials sourced locally.
What should I bring?
We play rain or shine so please come prepared for the weather that day. Perth often has four seasons in one day so it is important to be prepared!
Here are a few suggestions:
- Hat and Sunscreen (these are a must!)
- Rashie or loose long sleeve top to keep the sun off
- Spare change of clothes (there is mud play!)
- Plenty of warm clothes including jackets, winter hats, warm tops and pants, spare socks
- Raincoat and gumboots if wet
- Drink bottle with plenty of water and snacks
- Picnic rug
Leave No Trace
Nature Play WA events are a great way to have meaningful conversations with your children around Leave No Trace, building awareness, appreciation and respect for our natural and cultural heritage, encouraging them to be responsible for their area of play, disposing of waste, using only the resources they need and ensuring that the natural environment is not harmed during play. Please help us by having these conversations with your children before and during the day. Encouraging the children to help with packing away resources at the end of their session is also a great way to help promote this awareness.
Please be advised that children are the responsibility of their parent/guardian at all times. Additionally, a responsible adult must remain with the child during each activity.
During registration for this event, you will be asked to sign in and agree with the Terms and Conditions. Agreement to these conditions thereby confirms that you understand that you are responsible for your child/children at all times.
In case of an emergency, please report to the event base/registration at the Nature Play WA marquee. There are first aid trained staff on site, who will be more than happy to assist you and your family.
In the case of a lost child, please alert the closest Nature Play WA staff member or volunteer who will follow the Lost Child protocol.
Photo or Video Consent
Nature Play WA would love to get some photographs and videos of participants at this event, and would appreciate your permission to share these photos through our Nature Play WA networks. Often these photographs will not identify a child or individual, and are more to capture the fun of the event.
If you do not wish for photographs to be taken of your family, please advise staff at the registration desk who will provide you with a wrist band for your wear during the event. If you would like more information regarding the official event photography, please contact our Events Manager Nicole McNamara - [email protected]
We can't wait to see all our littlest nature players for a big morning of nature play fun!
